Unmissable places in Padua

From the 14th-century pictorial cycle to the Ancient Botanical Garden to an e-bike ride in the Euganean Hills or a visit to some ancient wine cellar... the days are never enough when it comes to experiencing Padua. But if you can't stay long or if you're just passing through, there are three must-see heritages in the city that will excite even the least art history enthusiasts. If you love Padua because of its food, good wine or long walks, don't miss the chance to add a visit to these three historical sites to your itinerary, you won't regret it!
Palazzo della Ragione
After an amazing breakfast at DC Hotel Internation your day can only begin in Piazza delle Erbe and in the beautiful “Palazzo della Ragione”, once the seat of the city court. The Palace houses one of the largest hall in the world, finely frescoed by Nicolò Miretto with the help of other painters of the time. Initially the amazing privilege of frescoing the walls was given to the master Giotto, but the entire cycle was unfortunately destroyed by fire in 1420. The frescoes are divided into 333 covers all on the theme of astrology. The Hall also contains two very special art subjects: the Stone of Vituperio, on which insolvent debtors had to sit three times after removing their clothes (hence the term "remain in cloth pants") and the Wooden Horse, a huge wooden sculpture made by Annibale Capodilista.
The Scrovegni Chapel
The Scrovegni Chapel is magnificent at any time of day, but our advice is to visit it in the evening, when the soft light of sunset really makes everything more magical. Frescoed by "Master" Giotto, the Scrovegni Chapel is a must-see and is truly a work of art that can make your heart skip a beat, and we have dedicated a real in-depth study to it here on our website.
Baptistery of the Duomo
The third unmissable attraction in Padua is the Baptistery of the Cathedral, frescoed by Giusto de 'Menabuoi in late 1400 and depicting the most important episodes of the Old and New Testament. When you enter the Baptistery, you feel really small and fascinated by the myriad of colors on the walls, as well as "judged" by the depiction of the “Last Judgment” that embellishes the dome.
For a romantic weekend, halfway between relaxation and art history or a break during a business trip, don't miss the chance to visit these three magnificent examples of Padua's great beauty, we are waiting for you at the DC Hotel International.
